Hotel Housekeeper

Position Summary

USC is seeking two dependable and detail-oriented Hotel Housekeepers to maintain cleanliness, organization, and service standards throughout its hotel facilities. The ideal candidates will be responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms, maintaining public and back-of-house areas, handling laundry and housekeeping supplies, and providing courteous service to guests, faculty, staff, and students.

Candidates should be comfortable performing physical housekeeping duties, following established cleaning procedures, and working efficiently in a hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and service assigned guest rooms promptly and efficiently while following established housekeeping procedures and quality standards.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout assigned facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.

• Follow team-cleaning procedures and participate in self-inspection programs to ensure quality standards are consistently met.

• Inspect public and back-of-house areas, identify cleanliness issues, and report problems to the supervisor.

• Perform specialized floor-care duties, including carpet shampooing, floor stripping, and waxing.

• Notify the front desk or guest services team when rooms are ready for occupancy and promptly report rooms that cannot be serviced within the required timeframe.

• Respond professionally and courteously to requests from guests, supervisors, and management.

• Deliver housekeeping supplies, including linens and other requested items, in a timely manner.

• Report maintenance needs, unsafe conditions, and malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.

• Maintain organized linen carts, replenish floor storage rooms, and ensure housekeeping supplies are adequately stocked.

• Handle and transport linens, mattresses, and other housekeeping materials as required.

• Operate washers and dryers according to manufacturer guidelines and recommended capacity limits.

• Maintain the security of assigned keys, equipment, and supplies.

• Assist in training new housekeepers and temporary employees on proper cleaning procedures and equipment use.

• Follow all applicable USC policies, departmental procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned, including laundry operations, special projects, and other housekeeping support activities.

Required Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping or hotel-cleaning experience is preferred.

• Ability to clean guest rooms and maintain public areas according to established standards.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving linens and housekeeping supplies.

• Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and laundry machines safely.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Good customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate with a team.
