Position Summary
The Hotel Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and assigned hotel areas according to hotel, company, and brand standards. The Housekeeper must provide a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for every guest while maintaining productivity, quality, and professional service standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Report to work on time and be prepared to begin work at the scheduled start time.
- Maintain reliable attendance and follow all hotel attendance and call-out procedures.
- Clean and service assigned guest rooms according to established hotel and brand standards.
- Make beds and replace bed linens, pillowcases, and blankets as required.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, showers, tubs, sinks, mirrors, floors, and fixtures.
- Dust, wipe, and clean furniture, countertops, appliances, fixtures, and other surfaces.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors as appropriate.
- Empty trash and replace trash liners.
- Replenish towels, toiletries, amenities, paper products, and other guest supplies.
- Inspect guest rooms for cleanliness, damage, missing items, and maintenance concerns.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged items, and room deficiencies to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Executive Housekeeper.
- Follow room-cleaning procedures and complete assigned rooms within established productivity expectations.
- Maintain housekeeping carts and assigned equipment in a clean and organized condition.
- Properly handle and transport dirty and clean linens.
- Follow proper procedures for lost-and-found items and immediately report items found in guest rooms.
- Protect guest privacy and personal belongings at all times.
- Follow proper procedures for entering occupied guest rooms.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
- Follow all hotel, company, Hilton brand, OSHA, health, and safety requirements.
- Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required uniform and name badge.
- Respond courteously and professionally when interacting with guests.
- Report guest complaints or service concerns to management promptly.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects, special cleaning assignments, and other housekeeping projects as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned back-of-house and housekeeping areas.
- Complete all assigned work before the end of the scheduled shift unless otherwise authorized by management.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Attendance and Punctuality Expectations
Attendance is an essential responsibility of this position. The Housekeeper must:
- Report to work on time and ready to work at the scheduled start time.
- Follow the posted schedule.
- Properly clock in and out according to company policy.
- Notify management as soon as possible when unable to report to work.
- Follow the hotel's established call-out procedures.
- Remain on the property during scheduled working hours unless authorized by management.
- Obtain management approval before leaving the property during a scheduled shift.
- Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
Failure to meet attendance and punctuality expectations may result in corrective or disciplinary action, up to and including termination, consistent with company policy.
Room Cleaning and Quality Standards
Housekeepers are expected to ensure every assigned room is:
- Thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
- Properly stocked with required guest amenities.
- Properly made and presented.
- Free of visible dirt, dust, hair, stains, trash, and debris.
- Checked for maintenance issues and damages.
- Properly inspected before being reported as clean.
- Completed according to hotel and brand standards.
Guest Service Expectations
Housekeepers are representatives of the hotel and are expected to:
- Greet guests courteously and professionally.
- Respond appropriately to guest requests.
- Maintain guest privacy and confidentiality.
- Never discuss guest information with unauthorized individuals.
- Immediately report guest concerns to a supervisor or manager.
- Treat guest belongings and hotel property with care and respect.
Physical Requirements
The Housekeeper must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and stretch.
- Push and pull housekeeping carts.
- Lift and carry linens, supplies, and cleaning equipment.
- Perform repetitive cleaning motions.
- Work in guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and other hotel areas.
- Safely use housekeeping equipment and cleaning products.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow instructions and established cleaning procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
