Designed for high-aptitude engineering students, this position offers real technical responsibility, 360-degree exposure across our entire business and engineering ecosystem, and a direct hiring pipeline toward a full-time position upon graduation ($85,000 – $135,000 OTE).What You Will DoHPC Execution & Troubleshooting: Diagnose runtime solver errors, custom model scripting bottlenecks, and job scheduling hurdles across high-core-count clusters.Customer Benchmarks & Hardware Testing: Execute technical benchmarks to demonstrate simulation performance speedups on Corvid HPC and evaluate next-generation server hardware architectures.Workflow Automation: Build and maintain custom Python and Bash scripts to automate parametric sweeps, optimization loops, and multi-physics execution pipelines.Client Enablement Support: Shadow senior engineers to assist in onboarding client CAE models, optimize hardware selection, and resolve active technical support tickets. What This Position IS NOT: This is not a passive shadowing role or an internship spent on disposable side projects. You will be rolled directly into active technical workflows, cluster execution tasks, and client enablement initiatives based on your aptitude.RequirementsAcademic Standing: Junior or Senior undergraduate, or current M.S. / Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Physics, or a related STEM field.Academic focus or upper-level coursework in computational physics or continuum mechanics disciplines (e.g., fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, or finite element methods).Hands-on CAE experience (CFD or FEA) gained through Senior Design / Capstone projects, collegiate engineering teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE), internships, or course projects.Baseline proficiency in command-line Linux environments and coding/scripting experience (Python or Bash).Must be a U.S. Person.Willingness to complete a practical Linux and CAE skills assessment during the interview process.Preferred SkillsBroad IT & Systems Savvy: General literacy across Windows, Linux administration concepts, and basic networking fundamentals-a strong technical curiosity that bridges the gap between pure engineering and IT infrastructure.Proven team leadership and sustained commitment in collective group environments (e.g., athletic team captain, marching band / performing arts leadership, ROTC, volunteer fire/EMS, FSAE/Baja sub-team lead, student organization executive, Eagle Scout / Gold Award, or community service leadership).Familiarity with commercial or open-source solvers (e.g., Ansys Fluent/Mechanical, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, STAR-CCM+, NASTRAN, OpenFOAM, or specialized hydrocodes).Exposure to HPC workload schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS, LSF) or building/compiling software packages in Linux.Exposure to web or database development tools (e.g., Python web frameworks, REST APIs, SQL, Streamlit/Dash, Open OnDemand).About Corvid HPCCorvid HPC is an aggressive-growth startup forked from 20+ year defense innovator Corvid Technologies. Scaling from 1 to nearly 200 customers since 2021, we combine high-growth tech momentum with established defense stability. We provide secure, bare-metal supercomputing purpose-built for computational physics. Rather than just handing off compute, we work directly alongside client engineering teams to optimize, troubleshoot, and scale their most demanding workflows. Why Corvid HPC for Interns & Co-ops360° Ecosystem & Real Customer Exposure: Experience it all. Beyond core HPC execution, you will get hands-on time working on technical tasks, join live technical calls and engagements with real customers alongside senior engineers, work with HPC/Linux admins, and connect with defense analysis and software teams at Corvid Technologies.Return-to-Campus Remote Path: Top performers who complete an initial in-office term at our Lake Norman campus gain the opportunity to continue working as paid, remote part-time engineers after returning to campus to finish their degree.Direct Pipeline to Full-Time: We recruit interns and co-ops with the explicit goal of building our future full-time team (85k–135k OTE post-graduation).High-Accountability Team Culture: Work on-site at our Lake Norman campus in Mooresville, NC within a close-knit, low-overhead team that operates with a team-sports mentality-giving high autonomy to individuals who take pride and ownership in their deliverables. How to ApplyWhen submitting your application, please highlight your hands-on CAE project experience (Senior Design, FSAE, Baja, internships, class projects), your Linux/scripting exposure, and any team leadership roles directly on your resume or application note.
