The University of New Mexico Health Sciences IT (HSIT) department is seeking a senior‑level technical professional to provide advanced leadership and operational support for high‑performance and data‑intensive research computing environments that serve health sciences initiatives. This role is central to enabling data‑driven research, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence in healthcare through secure, reliable hybrid computing infrastructure spanning on‑premises systems, cloud platforms, and high‑speed research networks. The position plays a key role in supporting grant‑funded research and ensuring research computing services remain compliant, scalable, and sustainable.

This role requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to translate complex research needs into robust technical solutions.
This position offers an opportunity to directly support nationally competitive research by contributing to the design and evolution of critical infrastructure, monitoring emerging technologies, and identifying strategic improvements in high‑performance computing, cloud services, and secure research environments. The role also contributes to infrastructure planning, cost projections, and sustainability efforts that support ongoing and future externally funded research initiatives.
