HR GeneralistOur client is a small, employee-owned environmental services and construction company located in Monmouth County, NJ. They are a mission-driven organization dedicated to sustainability-focused initiatives. The HR Generalist will act as the sole HR point of contact for all employees. They will handle the full employee lifecycle from recruiting, onboarding, benefits, compliance, and offboarding. They will also own and process weekly payroll, including complex union payroll, ensuring accurate wage rates, classifications, deductions, and compliance requirements across multiple bargaining agreements. Prior experience processing union payroll and/or knowledge of prevailing wage requirements is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of HR experience, preferably within the construction industry, and thrives in a hands-on environment as a department of one. This individual has experience supporting both day-to-day HR operations and strategic initiatives, with exposure to union payroll and/or prevailing wage requirements. They are comfortable partnering with leadership, building new programs and processes from the ground up, and are excited by the opportunity to grow as the organization continues to expand. This position is five days a week on-site in Monmouth County, NJ.Job DescriptionCoordinate and administer employee onboarding and offboarding processes.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.Support employee relations initiatives, including conflict resolution and performance management.Maintain accurate employee records and manage HR systems efficiently.Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.Collaborate with management to address workforce planning and organizational development needs.Process payroll and benefits administration in coordination with external providers.Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR-related inquiries and best practices.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.The Successful ApplicantA successful HR Generalist should have:5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with the ability to balance both transactional HR responsibilities and strategic business partnership.Comfortable serving as a department of one, independently managing the full employee lifecycle while supporting leaders across the organization.Construction industry experience strongly preferred, with an understanding of the unique challenges associated with field-based workforces.Experience with union environments, union payroll, and/or prevailing wage requirements highly preferred.Proven ability to implement new programs, processes, or HR initiatives from the ground up.Hands-on, proactive, and willing to roll up their sleeves to support both day-to-day operations and long-term business objectives.What's on OfferCompetitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications.Annual bonus potential.100% employer-paid health coverage.401k with match.
