The Human Resources Generalist, Academic Systems & Compensation, has a portfolio that includes responsibilities in compensation and HR Tech. This includes, but is not limited to, managing and implementing part-time faculty employment and pay; managing part-time collective bargaining agreement pay changes in the Banner HRIS; supporting data and access requests; assisting with Banner maintenance; and other assigned HR projects as required.

This is a full-time, at-will, administrative, exempt position that reports to the Associate Vice President of HR Technology Solutions. This is a hybrid position with on-site attendance required for 3 days of the workweek.

The salary range for this position is $58,000-$61,000.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in human resources.
  • Demonstrated success in compensation management and payroll support.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in auditing a must.
  • A positive and professional demeanor is a must.
  • Experience/understanding of an HR information system is required.
  • Experience using a report-writer.
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word required.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to both small and large groups.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Banner HR (HRIS) and Argos (report-writer) preferred.
  • At least one year in higher education or not-for-profit sector preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and assisting with union contract interpretation.

Equipment Operated

Standard office equipment (desktop computer, phone, calculator).

May use a laptop for presentations.

Working Conditions

Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but

there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.

Essential Job Functions

Duty and Responsibility

Compensation and Benefits Administration:

  • Serve as a strategic liaison with college deans, department chairs, program directors, and administrative staff regarding faculty and staff compensation and benefits.
  • Oversee the review and approval of Banner HR pay entries for adjunct, full-time, part-time, annual, and emeritus faculty, including overload, stipends, and job assignments.
  • Review, approve/obtain approvals, and oversee Banner HR entry of pay for all adjunct, full-time, part-time annual and emeritus faculty overload teaching and stipend pay and jobs in collaboration with academic leadership in all five colleges.
  • Administer the time-off (ex: vacation, sick, holiday) policies adhering to university policies and related procedures.
  • Coordinate and review and approval of electronic PAFs submitted by Chicago College of Performing Arts.
  • Review and process course add/drop, independent study, and course by arrangement forms submitted by departments.

Percentage Of Time 30 Duty and Responsibility

Human Resources/HRIS:

  • Support HRIS operations ensuring data integrity and system performance.
  • Assist in HR audit activities validating employee and benefits data.
  • Ensure all benefits and faculty pay information on the HR website is accurate. Act as a back-up for HRIS.
  • Manage and optimize the Human Resources chatbot
  • Own the Human Resources Dynamic Forms templates. Manage and maintain existing templates, and build new templates as needed.
  • Administer university-wide communications as needed
  • Maintain HR intranet and website content accuracy.
  • Administers employees' access to supervisor functions.
  • Administer system access and maintain reporting structures
  • Process position requisitions and support workflows.
  • Support HR communications and updates.

Percentage Of Time 30 Duty and Responsibility

Labor Relations:

  • Maintain adjunct teaching history and prepare reports for adjunct union representatives.
  • Update and communicate the RAFO bargaining unit member census each fall and spring term.
  • Coordinate union dues payments with RAFO union leadership and payroll department.
  • Manage the adjunct faculty appointment letter process each semester and ensure compliance with union contract terms.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of the collective bargaining agreement with the Roosevelt Adjunct Faculty Organization (RAFO).

Percentage Of Time 20 Duty and Responsibility

Payroll Administration:

  • Support the review and validation of payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Audit and maintain payroll-related data within HRIS, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Process and update employee payroll elections, including Form W-4 entries.
  • Partner with Payroll to resolve discrepancies and employee inquiries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls.

Other Duties:

  • Perform any and all other duties assigned that support the mission, vision and Institutional Strategic Plan of Roosevelt University and the goals and objectives of the human resources department.
