Job Description

The HR Generalist serves as a key on-site Human Resources partner for Drew Estate, responsible for ensuring the effective execution of core HR processes while providing responsive, employee-centered support. This role acts as the primary point of contact for employees and managers, addressing day-to-day HR needs, supporting employee relations, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.

The HR Generalist in partnership with the HR Centers of Excellence (COE) of Drew Estate’s parent company Swisher,  helps implement enterprise HR programs, maintain compliance with employment laws and company policies, and ensure alignment with broader organizational practices, while tailoring execution to meet the unique needs of Drew Estate business in alignment with broader corporate objectives.

The role requires strong knowledge of HR fundamentals and the ability to operate both as an operational executor and a trusted resource to employees and leaders, driving a consistent, compliant, and positive employee experience across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters
  • Maintain employee records, including I-9 verification and compliance documentation
  • Partner with frontline leaders to address employee concerns and support day-to-day people decisions
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies
  • Maintain HR data integrity and support reporting requirements (e.g., EEO-1, AAP, Veteran reporting)
  • Process unemployment claims and participate in hearings as required
  • Support HRIS processes, reporting, and system updates
  • Partner with leaders to support compliance with OSHA and workplace safety requirements, reinforce safe behaviors, and assist in the investigation and documentation of workplace incidents as needed
  • Escalate complex employee relations issues and partner in resolution approach
  • Build an understanding of the business, workforce dynamics, and operational priorities
  • Support leaders in identifying workforce needs, risks, and opportunities (e.g., turnover, attendance, engagement)
  • Identify and escalate trends from employee interactions, exit interviews, and HR data
  • Partner with leadership to support implementation of workforce and talent initiatives
  • Support execution of key talent processes (e.g., performance management, development planning, onboarding effectiveness)
  • Identify opportunities to improve employee experience and HR process efficiency
  • Support change initiatives and communication at the local level
  • Role model company core values with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the delivery and tracking of employee training programs, including onboarding, compliance training, and role-specific development, ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience with related HR responsibilities
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to proactively use discretion and sound judgment when guiding supervisors and employees
  • Ability to protect confidential information and communicate with impeccable discretion in all matters related to employees and internal processes 
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and processes
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
  • Knowledge of current federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to prepare and present training programs and materials
  • Ability to analyze complex information and to define and solve problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
  • Travel: 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active PHR/SHRM certification
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • UKG and Emburse experience
  • Experience in office and warehouse distribution work environments
