Job Overview
Search Solution Group is seeking an HR Operations Director on behalf of our client, a privately held security provider. This role is critical to leading and optimizing the organization's day-to-day HR function, with key responsibilities spanning employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, HR compliance, and oversight of the HR Business Partner team. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and plays a central role in shaping a positive and compliant employee experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesHRBP Team Oversight & Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and support the HR Business Partner team, including two HRBPs and a Benefits Specialist.
  • Facilitate regular HRBP meetings to ensure consistency in policies and best practices.
  • Guide the team through complex matters involving performance, organizational change, planning, and engagement.
  • Identify development opportunities and foster a high-performing, collaborative HR function.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for complex employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Coach managers and HRBPs on performance management, corrective action, and termination processes.
  • Monitor trends and recommend proactive training, policy updates, or interventions.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and confidential records in compliance with regulations.
  • Partner with Legal Counsel on sensitive employment matters and agency claims as needed.
Benefits Administration
  • Oversee the design, administration, and optimization of employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement programs.
  • Lead open enrollment, vendor management, plan audits, and billing reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related regulations.
  • Analyze benefits data and feedback to recommend cost-effective improvements.
  • Serve as escalation for complex claims, appeals, and inquiries.
Leave Administration
  • Direct all leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, workers' compensation, and internal leave policies.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, timely communication, and compliant case management.
  • Coordinate with benefits carriers, third-party administrators, and payroll.
HR Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee onboarding/offboarding, HRIS administration, personnel file management, and policy governance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; lead audits and remediation.
  • Maintain and enhance HRIS systems (UKG preferred); recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop HR dashboards and reports to support data-driven decisions.
  • Support engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and cultural activities.
Requirements IncludeEducation:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience with depth in employee relations, benefits, and leave administration.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership/management role.
  • 5+ years of HRIS systems experience; UKG preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and delegate effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive HR matters with sound judgment and professionalism.
Certifications:
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
Knowledge:
  • Expertise in HR laws and regulations related to benefits, leave, compliance, and reporting.
  • Experience with HR policy development, benefits program management, and compliance audits.
  • Technical proficiency in HRIS systems, reporting, and data analysis.
