Legacybox is looking for an HR / Payroll Specialist to support the daily operations of our People team through payroll administration, onboarding, recruiting coordination, compliance, and employee support.

This is a highly detail-oriented role that helps ensure our employees are paid accurately, onboarded successfully, and supported throughout their experience at Legacybox.

Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours: Typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (+/- 1 hour based on business needs)
Work Environment: In-person, Chattanooga facility

 

Responsibilities of the HR / Payroll Specialist:

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
  • Review and audit time clock entries, missed punches, and pay code accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and wage regulations
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes
  • Coordinate background checks, employment verification, and onboarding documentation
  • Assist with employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary meetings, and terminations as needed
  • Maintain HRIS records and employee documentation with a high level of confidentiality
  • Support benefits administration, insurance reconciliation, and employee communications regarding benefits
  • Assist with training initiatives, performance evaluation processes, and employee development programs
  • Help maintain policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
  • Compile reports and documentation related to OSHA, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and compliance requirements
  • Partner with managers to support staffing needs, retention efforts, and organizational initiatives
 

What a Typical Day Looks Like:

  • Review payroll and timekeeping information for accuracy
  • Communicate with managers regarding attendance, approvals, or payroll corrections
  • Assist candidates and new hires through onboarding and hiring processes
  • Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, or HR policies
  • Maintain employee records and process HR documentation
  • Participate in meetings related to staffing, employee support, or compliance initiatives
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the HR department while balancing multiple priorities

  • Worked in payroll, HR, recruiting, or administrative operations
  • Managed confidential information with professionalism and accuracy
  • Used HRIS, payroll, or employee management systems

  • Interpreted or applied policies and procedures consistently

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll and/or HR operations experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification is a plus
