Job Summary
The Human Resources Intern provides support to the Human Resources teams at the Bald Mountain and Round Mountain mine sites while gaining practical, hands-on experience across all functions of Human Resources. This summer internship is designed to provide exposure to HR operations within the mining industry, including recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, HR systems and records, employee engagement, performance management, compensation, reporting, and other HR programs and initiatives. Housing will be provided for the duration of the summer internship.
The intern will work under the direction of Human Resources leadership and may be based at either the Bald Mountain or Round Mountain site depending on business needs. The role will partner with members of both HR teams and may support projects and initiatives across both locations.
This is a temporary summer internship working Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days (40 hours per week).
Essential Functions
Support the Human Resources team across all areas of HR, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, employee engagement, HR systems, and other programs and initiatives.
Assist with HR projects, research, reporting, data analysis, presentations, communications, and process improvement initiatives.
Support HR administrative activities, including HRIS data entry and auditing, employee records, documentation, scheduling, and general department coordination.
Participate in HR meetings, site activities, employee events, and cross-functional initiatives to gain exposure to HR operations and the mining business.
Interact professionally with employees, leaders, candidates, and other stakeholders while serving as a positive representative of the Human Resources team.
Maintain an uncompromising commitment to confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee and business information.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, confidentiality, and Code of Conduct requirements, and work without risk or harm to self and others.
Perform other related duties, projects, and assignments as directed by Human Resources leadership.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Organizational Leadership, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources and developing knowledge across multiple HR disciplines.
Previous work, internship, administrative, customer service, or leadership experience preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and leaders at various levels of the organization.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when working with sensitive employee and business information.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrate initiative, ask questions, receive feedback, and learn quickly.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Previous exposure to Human Resources, HR systems, or the mining industry is a plus but not required.
Ability and willingness to work at either the Bald Mountain or Round Mountain mine site based on assignment and business needs.
Ability and willingness to occasionally travel between the Bald Mountain and Round Mountain mine sites to support business needs, projects, and development opportunities.
