Dexter is seeking a motivated HSE/Safety Intern to support our commitment to a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This internship provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, giving students the opportunity to learn from experienced team members while contributing to meaningful safety and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Potential locations may include Dexter facilities in Indiana.

As an HSE/Safety Intern, you will work on hands-on projects. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with safety audits, inspections, and observations throughout the facility.

• Support the investigation and documentation of safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.

• Help maintain safety records, training documentation, and regulatory compliance files.

• Participate in the development and improvement of safety procedures, work instructions, and training materials.

• Assist with ergonomics assessments and recommendations to improve workplace safety.

• Support efforts related to hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective-action tracking.

• Help communicate safety initiatives and promote employee engagement in safety programs.

• Participate in safety meetings, facility walkthroughs, and cross-functional improvement projects.

• Assist with environmental, health, and safety reporting as needed.

• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:

• Strong interest in environmental health and safety within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to analyze information, identify potential concerns, and help develop practical solutions.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
