The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD)is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

The Human Resources Analyst A/B/C/Specialist will assist with day-to-day HR functions including hiring, onboarding, employee support, and compliance. This position plays a key role in maintaining effective HR operations and supporting our workforce. Minimum Qualifications

Three years of human resources experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelors degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for extensive/specialized unclassified and teacher employment-related tasks.
  • Responsible for employee administration, salary/payroll administration, staffing, Teachers Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL), leave management, and a working knowledge of the LaGov HCM system.
  • Knowledge of State Civil Service (DSCS) Rules, State and Federal laws, SSD policies and procedures, and school system operations.
  • Knowledge of the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) Bulletin 1491, Teacher Benefit Law", and Bulletin 746, "LA Standards for State Certification of School Personnel".

Position-specific details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The chosen applicant will be required to take a probationary appointment.

Location: The Human Resources Specialist position is located in the Human Resources Department at the Louisiana Special School District.

Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
