Human Resources Generalist - Columbia, MD


Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Salary: 650,000 - $85,000


About the Human Resources Generalist Opportunity


We are seeking a proactive and employee-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team. This role will support a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, onboarding, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who enjoys partnering with managers, solving problems, and helping create a positive workplace culture.


Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist:



  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, offer preparation, and onboarding.

  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions.

  • Support performance management, employee development, and succession planning initiatives.

  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist with employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and corrective actions.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, and EEO regulations.

  • Manage leave administration, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.

  • Generate HR reports and analyze workforce data to support decision-making.

  • Assist with training, employee engagement, and culture-building initiatives.

  • Support compensation programs, salary reviews, and annual performance cycles.


Qualifications for the Human Resources Generalist:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

    • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus



  • 2+ years of HR experience

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality


Systems & Technical Skills:



  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as ADP, UKG, Dayforce, Workday, BambooHR, or similar

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

  • Experience creating HR dashboards, metrics, and workforce reports a plus
