Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive, generalist HR support across talent acquisition, classification and compensation, employee relations, and strategic institutional initiatives within a higher education environment. This role helps to drive compliance, equitable hiring practices, and operational efficiency while supporting key projects, including system-wide enterprise software implementations.

Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition and Recruitment (25%)

  • Coordinate recruitment activities for faculty and staff positions by reviewing job postings, identifying effective sourcing strategies, and utilizing internal and external recruitment platforms, including social media, to attract qualified applicants.
  • Assist hiring managers with the recruitment and selection processes by providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure equitable and compliant hiring practices.
  • Serve on search committees as assigned.

Classification and Compensation (25%)

  • Assist with job analysis and position classification activities by reviewing job documentation and organizational needs.
  • Assist with research and compile data to support compensation recommendations, position changes, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate job description, classification, and compensation records to support informed decision-making and compliance.
  • Respond to compensation and classification related inquiries by providing guidance on processes, documentation requirements, and applicable policies.

Employee Relations and Compliance (25%)

  • Assist with employee relations matters and refer complex matters to the Executive Director.
  • Manage the employee performance evaluation process by coordinating annual evaluation cycles, providing guidance to supervisors, monitoring completion, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and timelines.
  • Assist with the Performance Improvement and Development planning.
  • Partner with the Title IX Coordinator to conduct or assist with investigations involving employee-related matters, as appropriate.
  • Serve as the Office of Human Resources representative on the institutions CARE Team.

Strategic Initiatives and Organizational Support (20%)

  • Provides administrative support for Human Resources initiatives associated with the University System of Georgia Enterprise Resource Project, including change management activities.
  • Provide support for human resources projects, programs, and strategic initiatives that support institutional goals.

Other Duties (5%)

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years of HR experience.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Workday HR, or similar systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification
  • Experience in a higher education institution
  • Knowledge of relevant laws (e.g., Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act) and complexities surrounding investigations in an education setting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to employment and benefits.
  • Knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of human resources information systems (HRIS/HRMS) and related technology applications.
  • Skill in analyzing information, conducting research and applying problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in decision making and exercising sound judgment.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and providing effective customer service to campus stakeholders.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of computers, HR systems, and job-related software programs.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to analyze complex employment related issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.

Target Salary: $55,000
