Nwestco is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our growing workforce across multiple locations in the western United States. This role will serve as a key partner to leadership and employees, providing hands-on support in employee relations, compliance, workers' compensation, performance management, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong knowledge of California and/or Washington labor laws, and is comfortable supporting a blue-collar workforce within the construction, service, or industrial sectors.

The pay range is $75,000-$110,000 DOE + Full Benefits • PTO • 401(k)

This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside on the West Coast and be available to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Preference will be given to candidates located in California or Washington.


Your Mission:

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers across multiple branch locations.
  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on California and Washington labor regulations.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and related documentation.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and employee retention initiatives.
  • Maintain HR records, policies, procedures, and employee documentation.
  • Assist managers with performance reviews, coaching, and employee development.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding policies, benefits, leave administration, and HR processes.
  • Partner with leadership to support workforce planning and organizational initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, compliance, and employee engagement.


What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on HR Generalist experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of California and/or Washington labor laws (required).
  • Experience supporting construction, service, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or other blue-collar workforces.
  • Multi-state HR experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience supporting multi-location operations.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, performance management, and compliance initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
