The HR Generalist serves as the operational backbone of the HR department, executing the full employee lifecycle with precision, consistency and compliance. The role ensures HR policies, processes and systems function seamlessly while supporting employees and managers in day‑to‑day workforce needs. This position requires high judgment, confidentiality and independence.The annual base salary range for this position, based out of Syracuse, NY, is $68,000 - $85,000. The actual salary offered will vary based on applicant's relevant skills, education, experience, certifications and geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.This position is available in Syracuse, NY and allows for a hybrid (office & work from home) schedule.What you'll be doing:Employee Lifecycle ManagementManage processes including onboarding, offboarding and HR workflows, including documentation and knowledge transfer.Maintain HRIS data integrity and produce routine HR reports/dashboards.Employee Relations & Performance SupportServe as the first line of employee relations support.Coach managers on performance concerns and documentation requirements.Support the administration of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).Ensure consistent application of policies and corrective action processes.Compensation & BenefitsConduct salary architecture inputs, pay equity analyses and benchmarking.Participate in benefits strategy and vendor management.Manage annual compensation review cycles through clean data prep, HRIS and worksheet administration and manager communications.Employee education on compensation and benefits.Culture and EngagementSupport culture and communication initiatives.Serve as the execution owner for employee engagement and satisfaction initiatives, partnering with the VP of HR on strategy and priorities while owning day‑to‑day administration and follow‑through.Support managers with engagement‑related coaching, resources and best practices to improve employee experience and retention.Compliance & Risk ManagementCreation of HR policies and procedures by which employees are informed and governed.Maintain the employee handbook, ensuring its legal compliance and inclusion of updated policies and procedures.Enforce HR policies and maintain proper documentation.Track compliance and ensure adherence to local, state and federal laws.Prepare for and participate in audits and ensure proper record retention.Handle compliance reporting.Support HR investigations and documentation processes.Assist in risk mitigation strategies related to people practices.Maintain accurate job descriptions for all positions, including management of posted descriptions on the intranet.HRIS & Process ManagementMaintain HRIS system accuracy and support reporting, analytics, and dashboards.Maintain accurate dashboards and recurring reports within the HRIS and related systems to support data‑driven decision making.Uphold employee file integrity and compliance standards.KPI Tracking, Reporting & AccountabilityTrack and report on key HR and people‑related KPIs tied to assigned responsibilities, including but not limited to engagement scores, onboarding effectiveness, performance management, employee relations trends and policy compliance metrics.Ensure data integrity and consistency across all KPI reporting, audits, and leadership‑facing summaries.Recommend process improvements and corrective actions based on KPI trends and outcomes within the HR Generalist's scope of responsibility.What we're looking for:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.5+ years of progressive HR experience with direct, hands‑on responsibility for the following functional areas:Employee lifecycle management including onboarding, offboarding, employment status changes and documentationEmployee relations, including issue resolution, policy interpretation, investigations support, and manager coachingPerformance management, including documentation, corrective action, and administration of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)Compensation structure development, including salary architecture inputs and administrationCompensation benchmarking and pay equity analysis, including data preparation, analysis and support of annual compensation review cyclesHR compliance, including application and enforcement of federal, state, and local employment laws, policy administration and audit readinessHR certification(s) preferred (PHR, SHRM – CP).Strong understanding of labor laws, regulations and HR best practices.Demonstrate high level of personal and professional integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.Commitment to excellence and employee support.Ability to work collaboratively across teams.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.Exhibit independent judgment to plan, organize and prioritize workload.Ability to establish and
