Description
About the Role: Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a passionate and dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding
Administer employee benefits, compensation, and HR policy compliance
Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases in accordance with federal and state regulations
Serve as a point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management
Support training and development initiatives to foster employee growth and retention
Ensure compliance with Maryland labor laws, FMLA, ADA, and other applicable employment regulations
Assist with payroll processing and coordinate with finance as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
4+ years of experience in an HR generalist or HR specialist role
Knowledge of federal and Maryland state employment laws and HR best practices
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a people-first mindset
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
Experience in a nonprofit or social services environment is a plus
