POSITION OVERVIEW -------------------

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhancing the quality of urban life by providing safe, well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Human Service Program Coordinator (Seasonal) to join its Recreation & Wellness team.

The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:

• Oversee, coordinate, and monitor assigned Community Relations Specialist functions and activities for the Summer Food Service Program. • Serve as a liaison between the department and the community, requiring a high level of tact and cooperation. • Plan, develop, and implement procedures to meet state regulations and program guidelines. • Responsible for site visits, preparation, and verification of daily, weekly, and special reports. • Conduct orientation, training, development, and evaluation of staff. • Assist with maintaining inventory control and marketing the program. • Perform other duties as assigned.

The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS -------------------

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS -------------------------

Requires an Associates degree in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS -------------------------

Two years of experience in coordinating and managing community programs and activities are required.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS ---------------------

May require a Valid Drivers License and compliance with the City of Houstons policy on driving (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES ------------

Applicants with experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook are preferred.
