    Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Regional Manager to lead a portfolio of substation, transmission, and utility interconnection construction projects throughout the Eastern United States.

The Eastern region will primarily support projects across PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, and Southeast utility markets, with the portfolio potentially extending from New England and the Mid-Atlantic through the Carolinas and Southeast.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall performance of multiple high-voltage projects and the teams executing them. The Regional Manager will oversee project delivery, field leadership, financial performance, safety, quality, client relationships, and regional growth.

Candidates may be based out of Edison, New Jersey or Raleigh, North Carolina. Relocation packages are available for qualified candidates.

    Position Responsibilities

    Regional Project Leadership

    • Provide executive oversight of multiple high-voltage substation, transmission, and interconnection construction projects throughout the Eastern region.
    • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, utility, and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor schedules across the regional portfolio with particular focus on engineering deliverables, procurement, long-lead equipment, utility coordination, outages, energization dates, and other critical milestones.
    • Work with project leadership to identify schedule or execution issues early and establish recovery plans when necessary.
    • Participate in project pursuit and go/no-go decisions by evaluating contract terms, execution strategy, schedule feasibility, available resources, and overall project risk.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead and support regional Project Executives, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other field leadership personnel.
    • Establish consistent expectations and operating practices across multiple project teams.
    • Conduct regular regional and project leadership meetings to review performance, priorities, staffing, risks, and upcoming milestones.
    • Mentor and develop project and field personnel while helping build a strong succession pipeline for future leadership positions.
    • Assist with workforce planning and ensure projects are appropriately staffed based on workload, schedule, and technical requirements.

    Safety & Electrical Qualification

    • Maintain Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification or obtain the required qualification within the established onboarding period.
    • Ensure field supervision maintains the electrical qualifications required for the work being performed.
    • Conduct regular field safety reviews and reinforce accountability among project and field leadership.
    • Provide regional leadership for energized work planning, permit approvals, stop-work decisions, and other critical electrical safety activities.
    • Promote thorough near-miss and incident reporting with an emphasis on identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
    • Drive continuous improvement toward zero-incident performance across the regional portfolio.

    Client & Utility Relationships

    • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients, utilities, and project stakeholders throughout the Eastern region.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with utilities, owners, developers, EPC partners, and other strategic customers.
    • Work closely with business development and preconstruction teams to evaluate and pursue new high-voltage opportunities.
    • Support qualification efforts with utilities and help expand approved contractor/vendor relationships throughout the region.
    • Provide constructability and field execution input during estimating, bidding, and preconstruction.

    Financial & Commercial Management

    • Maintain oversight of project budgets, forecasts, margin performance, and the overall financial results of the Eastern regional portfolio.
    • Review project cost performance and identify potential financial exposure before it materially impacts results.
    • Ensure project teams maintain appropriate change management, documentation, and claim discipline.
    • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost, and strengthen project margins.
    • Support accurate forecasting and financial reporting across all projects within the region.

    Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure projects meet company, client, utility, and applicable regulatory quality requirements.
    • Maintain appropriate inspection and quality-control processes for high-voltage construction activities.
    • Ensure critical construction activities are properly inspected, tested, documented, and accepted before subsequent work or energization.
    • Maintain accountability for nonconformance tracking, corrective actions, and root-cause analysis.
    • Identify recurring quality issues across projects and implement regional improvements to prevent recurrence.

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Provide regular reporting regarding project status, financial performance, staffing, schedule, safety, quality, and regional risks.
    • Ensure project teams maintain complete and auditable construction records.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation for electrical qualifications, testing, inspections, commissioning activities, and as-built records.
    • Ensure project documentation meets client, utility, and regulatory requirements.

    Regional Risk Management

    • Identify and manage portfolio-level risks involving schedule, procurement, long-lead electrical equipment, labor availability, utility coordination, outages, permitting, and client concentration.
    • Develop mitigation and contingency plans for high-risk projects and regional resource constraints.
    • Support project leadership in resolving significant commercial, schedule, technical, or client-related issues.
    • Balance resources across multiple projects to minimize execution risk and protect regional performance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent high-voltage construction experience will be considered.
    • Minimum 8–10 years of high-voltage construction experience involving substations, transmission lines, and/or utility interconnections.
    • Previous experience at the Project Executive, Regional Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, or comparable multi-project leadership level.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple high-value construction projects and geographically distributed teams.
    • Strong knowledge of high-voltage construction practices, electrical safety requirements, utility standards, interconnection requirements, and applicable NERC requirements.
    • Experience working within PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, and/or major Eastern utility territories strongly preferred.
    • Experience working directly with utilities and familiarity with utility contractor qualification or Approved Vendor List processes is highly desirable.
    • QEW certification or ability to obtain required qualification within 90 days of hire.
    • Strong financial management experience including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, margin management, and change management.
    • Proven ability to lead project management and field construction teams.
    • Excellent communication, client management, organizational, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while operating effectively under schedule and financial pressure.
    • Significant regional travel should be expected.
