    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The HVAC Controls Estimator is responsible for reviewing project documents, specifications, and proposals to develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and time required for HVAC control systems. This role analyzes project requirements, selects appropriate control hardware and system solutions, and prepares detailed estimates and supporting documentation to guide profitable business decisions. The Estimator collaborates closely with customers, project managers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with specifications, and clear communication throughout the estimating process.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering, or three (3) to five (5) years of experience in estimating, engineering, or controls field experience preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of HVAC equipment and building automation control systems. Familiarity with financial and project management principles. Excellent math and analytical skills. Efficient use of the Windows operating system & MS Office suite. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. Must clearly communicate in verbal and written form.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Create detailed cost estimates, scope definitions, exceptions/exclusions, and vendor/subcontractor quotes. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by onsite visits, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Prepare estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information. Coordinate with contractors, owners, and engineers on project designs. Work closely with Account Managers

    OTHER DUTIES

    Participate in meetings and training as assigned, for the purpose of obtaining information related to the company or to performing/improving job knowledge and performance. Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department and/or company.

    SPECIAL JOB AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen Must be able to travel locally and possess a valid driver's license with no major violations Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and reviewing project documentation Frequent use of computers, calculators, and standard office equipment Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, blueprints, and specifications Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching Will require occasional travel to job sites for walkthroughs, meetings, or project reviews Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, and subcontractors Must be able to meet project deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
