HVAC Controls Service Technician

Massachusetts
$100K to $120K + Full Benefits + 401K

VIGO is working with a long-established energy management contractor at the forefront of smart building innovation across New England. With over 30 years of delivering best-in-class automation solutions across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island — they’re now expanding their team of field service experts in Massachusetts.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on HVAC Controls Service Technician who thrives in the field and wants to work with leading BMS/BAS platforms like Alerton, Tridium, and Honeywell.

Your Mission

As a Controls Technician, you’ll take ownership of the full service cycle — from reactive troubleshooting to planned maintenance, small project installations, and client training. You’ll play a vital role in delivering long-term system performance, comfort, and energy efficiency across commercial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service, maintenance, and repair work on HVAC building controls systems
  • Lead and execute small works service projects from planning through to delivery
  • Provide onsite support and engineering guidance to customers
  • Carry out programming, commissioning, and checkout of new installations
  • Assist in selecting, sourcing, and ordering system components
  • Identify and implement energy-saving solutions
  • Maintain documentation and communication throughout all job phases

The Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years’ experience in HVAC or controls-related roles
  • 2+ years in BMS/BAS service work, ideally with exposure to Alerton, Tridium, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls
  • Comfortable reading schematics, programming logic, and energy-saving strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Tridium AX certification highly preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Visio, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-first mindset
  • Ability to manage time effectively across multiple service jobs

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive base salary (based on experience)
  • Full suite of benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability Insurance
  • Paid holidays and sick leave
  • Company-matched 401K plan
  • Ongoing training and development in building automation technologies
  • Supportive, long-tenured team with excellent client relationships
