Description
Job Description:
As an HVAC Controls Software & Calibration Design Release Engineer, you will own HVAC control software and calibration development, validation, and production release for next-generation Client vehicles.
You will work across systems, software, validation, and supplier teams to deliver climate comfort, energy efficiency, and thermal management performance for conventional, hybrid, and electric vehicle applications.
This role is best suited for an engineer who can translate HVAC requirements into robust control software and calibrations to meet comfort objectives, use data to resolve integration issues, and drive software and calibration changes through launch.
Responsibilities:
Develop, calibrate, validate, and release HVAC control software and calibration features from concept through production.
Tune climate comfort, energy optimization, thermal management, and heat pump strategies to meet vehicle-level performance targets.
Analyze vehicle, bench, simulation, and virtual test data to identify gaps, improve control behavior, and confirm release readiness.
Lead root cause investigation, corrective action, and closure of software, calibration, and integration issues across bench, vehicle, and supplier environments.
Collaborate with software, systems, validation, program, and supplier teams to align requirements, manage deliverables, resolve issues, and meet program milestones.
Support MIL, SIL, HIL, bench, and vehicle validation to confirm software and calibration performance before release.
Own release readiness by coordinating calibration maturity, software timing, validation evidence, issue closure, and launch support activities.
Support vehicle road trips, drive cell testing, and development activities to evaluate HVAC performance, diagnose issues, and optimize real-world control behavior.
Requirements:
3+ years of automotive engineering experience.
Experience with embedded controls, calibration, software development, HVAC systems, thermal systems, or vehicle integration.
Familiarity with CAN and LIN networks, including automotive diagnostic or integration troubleshooting.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and issue-management skills, with the ability to summarize risks and drive cross-functional decisions.
Preferred:
Experience with HVAC controls, thermal management, heat pump systems, or electrified vehicle climate strategies.
Experience using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, INCA, CANape, CANoe, or equivalent calibration, modeling, data analysis, and network diagnostic tools.
Experience with MIL, SIL, HIL, and vehicle-level validation.
Knowledge of automotive software development processes, requirements traceability, change management, and structured problem-solving methods.
Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced product development environment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university.
