Build your future with a permanent opportunity estimating complex HVAC projects in the construction industry. We’re seeking an experienced HVAC estimating professional who can turn technical plans into accurate, competitive proposals and help secure exciting industrial construction projects.
You’ll collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop practical cost strategies, identify risks, and support successful project delivery. If you enjoy combining technical expertise, commercial insight, and sharp negotiation skills, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact from the first takeoff through contract award.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed HVAC estimates for industrial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project-related expenses.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, engineering drawings, and bid documents to understand project requirements and develop accurate quantity takeoffs.
- Review scopes of work (SOWs) to identify deliverables, exclusions, scope gaps, and potential overlaps between trades.
- Perform cost analysis, evaluate pricing alternatives, and recommend value-engineering opportunities that maintain quality and technical compliance.
- Request, review, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and scope clarifications with vendors and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to validate installation methods, resource requirements, schedules, and constructability.
- Support contract management by reviewing contractual requirements, documenting assumptions, and identifying commercial risks.
- Prepare clear bid submissions, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation for internal review and client presentations.
- Evaluate addenda, design revisions, and proposed changes, updating estimates and communicating cost impacts promptly.
- Maintain current cost databases and monitor market conditions, labor rates, material pricing, and equipment lead times.
- Support project handoffs by communicating estimate assumptions, procurement considerations, and scope commitments to delivery teams.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC estimating experience in the construction industry, with demonstrated experience on industrial projects or equivalent relevant work.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, materials, installation practices, and related construction processes.
- Proven proficiency in estimation, blueprint reading, and detailed quantity takeoffs.
- Experience reviewing bid packages, specifications, contracts, and SOWs for completeness, accuracy, and risk.
- Strong cost analysis skills and the ability to develop accurate, well-supported estimates under deadline pressure.
- Experience supporting contract management and negotiating with suppliers, subcontractors, or other project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with construction estimating and takeoff software, spreadsheets, and related digital tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and sound judgment when balancing cost, quality, schedule, and project requirements.
- Relevant education in mechanical engineering, construction management, HVAC technology, or an equivalent combination of training and practical experience.
