Overview

The HVAC Foreman is responsible for leading day-to-day field operations for HVAC installation, service, and preventive maintenance work throughout Tampa, FL and surrounding areas. This role serves as the on-site lead for assigned crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, customer expectations, and applicable codes. The HVAC Foreman is expected to remain hands-on in the field while coordinating labor, materials, workflow, and communication across the jobsite.

Responsibilities

Crew Leadership and Field Supervision

  • Lead, assign, and support HVAC technicians and apprentices on service, maintenance, retrofit, and installation work.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching, technical guidance, and task direction to promote safe work practices and quality workmanship.
  • Monitor crew productivity, attendance, and performance, and communicate staffing or training needs to management.

Project and Service Execution

  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities, sequencing of work, and labor utilization to meet schedules and customer commitments.
  • Review work orders, scopes, blueprints, specifications, and equipment requirements to ensure crews are prepared for each assignment.
  • Support start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities on commercial HVAC systems and related controls.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and jobsite housekeeping expectations.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and address field issues, equipment concerns, and jobsite risks before they impact schedule, safety, or quality.

Customer and Site Coordination

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, subcontractors, and internal partners during daily operations.
  • Communicate job progress, site conditions, service findings, and recommended next steps in a professional and timely manner.
  • Respond to customer concerns and help resolve field issues to maintain strong client relationships and service delivery.

Planning, Materials, and Documentation

  • Coordinate tools, equipment, and material needs to support efficient execution of scheduled work.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, including labor hours, service notes, equipment information, and completion status.
  • Assist with scheduling input, inventory awareness, and operational reporting to support productivity and cost control.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training in HVAC/R is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience, including experience leading crews or serving in a lead technician or foreman capacity.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, components, controls, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and work orders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple field demands, and adapt to changing service or project needs.
  • EPA certification and other relevant HVAC certifications or licenses are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; ability to travel locally within the Tampa market as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors, access rooftops and mechanical spaces, lift equipment and materials, and support after-hours, weekend, or emergency response when required.
