JOB TITLE: HVAC Superintendent, Self Perform
LOCATION: Fremont, CA 6 days/week, 60+ Hours, Mon-Saturday
DURATION: 6-month contract to hire
RATE RANGE: $60-80/hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the installation of commercial HVAC systems — including dock systems and large-scale warehouse installations — from project kickoff through completion. This role manages field crews, coordinates scheduling and Client, and ensures all installation work meets quality, safety, and code standards on commercial job sites.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily field operations for commercial HVAC installation projects, including dock leveler/dock HVAC systems and large warehouse mechanical systems
• Manage scheduling of crews, equipment, and material deliveries to keep projects on timeline and budget
• Coordinate Client allocation across multiple job sites or phases of a single large project
• Supervise, train, and direct HVAC installers and field technicians, ensuring proper installation techniques and adherence to specs/blueprints
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, ductwork layouts, and equipment specifications for large commercial spaces
• Conduct on-site quality control inspections throughout rough-in and finish stages
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, local building codes, and manufacturer installation requirements
• Serve as primary point of contact between field crews, project managers, general contractors, and clients
• Track project progress, labor hours, and material usage; report status updates to leadership
• Troubleshoot installation issues and resolve field conflicts or delays quickly
• Order and manage equipment/material logistics to avoid installation downtime
• Conduct toolbox talks and enforce jobsite safety protocols
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role
• Strong knowledge of commercial ductwork, rooftop units (RTUs), warehouse ventilation systems, and dock-area HVAC/loading dock equipment integration
• Proven ability to manage crew scheduling and Client across active job sites
• Ability to read mechanical/architectural blueprints and specifications
• Working knowledge of local and national mechanical codes
• EPA certification (Universal preferred)
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated.
