HVACR Service and Start-Up Technician — AAON/LG VRF Systems
Do you enjoy cracking tough diagnostics, guiding a system from installation to commissioning, and leaving a site running better than you found it? If so, this role is for you. You’ll take ownership of installation, support, start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems—centered on AAON and LG technologies.
Your Mission
Champion performance and reliability across diverse commercial environments. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with customers, service management, controls specialists, contractors, and manufacturers to resolve mechanical and controls-related issues with precision and clarity.
How You’ll Deliver Results
- Diagnose & Repair What Matters
- Tackle electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and controls problems—zeroing in on root cause.
- Service equipment including: AAON packaged rooftop units, AAON air-handling equipment, LG VRF systems, LG heat-pump and heat-recovery systems, DX/refrigeration, hydronic heating/cooling, plus VFDs, motors, compressors, and fans.
- Run functional tests and confirm proper operation after each repair.
- Start-Up & Commission Like a Pro
- Perform factory start-ups on AAON and LG equipment and complete manufacturer documentation meticulously.
- Verify refrigerant charge, airflow, temperature/pressure readings, electrical characteristics, safeties, and sequences of operation.
- Partner with controls technicians to integrate with BMS/BAS, conduct functional testing, and resolve integration issues.
- Prevent Failures Before They Happen
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on coils, filters, belts, bearings, motors, compressors, electrical components, dampers, economizers, and refrigeration circuits.
- Spot emerging issues and propose corrective actions.
- Provide clear condition reports and repair recommendations to customers.

- Communicate in a straightforward, professional manner with facility teams and other trades; represent DMG with pride.
- Cover emergency and after-hours calls when needed.
Document for Clarity and Continuity
- Produce thorough field service reports capturing conditions, troubleshooting steps, readings, repairs, and recommendations.
- Attach photos, equipment details, and part numbers when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate labor, travel, and materials records.
- Surface repair/replacement opportunities to the Service & Controls sales team.
What It Takes
- Preferred: 3+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- Solid grasp of commercial HVAC systems and refrigeration fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics/wiring diagrams.
- Well-developed mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; proficient with diagnostic instruments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean/acceptable driving record.
- Operate independently, juggle multiple service calls, and communicate clearly in writing and speech.
- Work safely within commercial and industrial environments.
Stand-Out Qualifications
- Direct experience with AAON equipment and LG VRF systems.
- AAON factory training/certification and LG VRF training/certification.
- Hands-on experience with equipment start-up and commissioning.
Physical Demands
