We are looking for a Hyper-V Engineer to design, implement, and manage complex Microsoft Hyper‑V virtualization environments in support our VMware‑to‑Hyper‑V migration project. This position will be a contract and remote with up to 90% international travel.
Due to the specific legal and contractual requirements associated with this position, this role will be direct employment with CAI. This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.
What You’ll Do
Support alignment and development of strategy and architecture for VMware‑to‑Hyper‑V migration initiatives
Execute and manage highly scalable Hyper‑V clusters, including Failover Clustering during migrations
Implement System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) and Windows Admin Center (WAC), and configure virtual networking (VM switches, VLANs, QoS)
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate infrastructure deployment, workflows, and system monitoring
Optimize Hyper‑V host performance and troubleshoot complex tier‑3 hypervisor-level issues
Implement and maintain Hyper‑V replication and disaster recovery strategies
Recommend process, organizational, and system improvements aligned with project goals
Apply SDLC methodologies and IT best practices to infrastructure and solution delivery
Stay current with industry trends to recommend innovative technical solutions
Collaborate with Active Directory and Cybersecurity teams to ensure secure cluster integration
What You’ll Need
Required:
4+ years of experience with Hyper‑V and VMware virtualization technologies
4+ years managing Windows Server environments
2+ years working with Cisco UCS platform
Strong expertise in Failover Clustering, SCVMM, Windows Admin Center, and enterprise networking/storage
Advanced PowerShell scripting experience
Strong knowledge of Active Directory (Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, NPS) in global environments
Experience implementing automation solutions for Hyper‑V deployments
Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Ability to handle and protect confidential information
Preferred:
Relevant Hyper‑V and Windows Server certifications
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
Experience with hybrid deployments, including Azure Arc
Familiarity with GitHub version control
Experience with Linux systems
Experience with Pure Storage and Veeam technologies
Experience with monitoring tools (AppDynamics, SolarWinds)
Experience managing server environments in the hospitality industry
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other standards
Sedentary work involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional movement around the office
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
Ability to lift and carry light to medium-duty equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods during deployments
Ability to push/pull light-duty equipment
Ability to travel between sites and work at ship construction sites

$45.00-$50.00 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
