POSITION SUMMARY
The Delta Hotels In-Room Dining (IRD) Server is responsible for providing
professional, efficient, accurate, and personalized food and beverage service directly to hotel guests in the comfort of their guest rooms.
This position is an important extension of the Delta Hotels guest experience and requires an individual who understands that In-Room Dining is more than delivering food—it is an opportunity to provide
discreet, attentive, accurate, and elevated hospitality.
The IRD Server is responsible for accurately entering and processing guest orders, coordinating with the culinary team, delivering food and beverages promptly, maintaining proper presentation, retrieving trays and equipment, and ensuring the IRD operation remains clean and organized.
The successful candidate must be dependable, professional, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while maintaining close communication with the kitchen and Food & Beverage leadership.
This is a cashless hotel. The successful candidate must have previous Toast POS experience and be comfortable accurately processing all guest transactions electronically.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
IN-ROOM DINING SERVICE
- Provide professional and courteous In-Room Dining service to hotel guests.
- Accurately receive and confirm guest food and beverage orders.
- Enter orders accurately into the Toast POS system.
- Confirm guest room number, order details, special requests, and delivery instructions.
- Coordinate with the culinary team to ensure orders are prepared accurately and promptly.
- Verify every order for accuracy and completeness before leaving the kitchen.
- Deliver food and beverages to guest rooms promptly and professionally.
- Ensure food and beverages are transported safely and appropriately.
- Present meals and beverages according to established Delta Hotels standards.
- Confirm that all requested condiments, utensils, napkins, and additional items are included.
- Handle guest requests and questions professionally.
- Communicate delays or unavailable items to guests and management promptly.
- Retrieve trays, carts, and service equipment according to established procedures.
TOAST POS & CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS
Previous Toast POS experience is required.
The IRD Server must be comfortable using Toast for all applicable ordering and payment functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Accurately enter food and beverage orders into Toast.
- Confirm guest room numbers and order information before submitting orders.
- Process guest payments through the hotel's cashless payment system.
- Accurately process credit/debit and other approved electronic payment methods.
- Apply authorized discounts, adjustments, or service charges according to hotel procedures.
- Review guest checks for accuracy before processing payment.
- Follow all hotel procedures regarding electronic payments.
- Protect guest payment information and maintain confidentiality.
- Immediately report payment or POS discrepancies to management.
- Demonstrate proficiency navigating Toast during busy service periods.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency when processing multiple orders.
No cash transactions are conducted at the hotel.

FOOD & BEVERAGE KNOWLEDGE
- Maintain strong knowledge of the current IRD menu.
- Understand menu ingredients, preparation methods, and common dietary concerns.
- Be familiar with beverage offerings, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Answer guest questions accurately and professionally.
- Never guess when answering questions regarding allergens or ingredients; consult the culinary team or management.
- Be knowledgeable about daily specials, menu availability, and applicable promotions.
- Make appropriate recommendations when requested.
ORDER ACCURACY & QUALITY CONTROL
- Verify all orders before leaving the kitchen.
- Ensure food and beverages match the guest's order.
- Confirm special requests and modifications.
- Ensure appropriate food and beverage temperatures are maintained.
- Verify proper presentation and packaging.
- Ensure all necessary service items accompany the order.
- Communicate discrepancies immediately to the kitchen or management.
- Never knowingly deliver an incomplete or incorrect order.
GUEST ROOM DELIVERY
- Follow established procedures for entering guest floors and delivering IRD orders.
- Maintain a professional and discreet presence in guest corridors and public areas.
- Knock and announce In-Room Dining according to established procedures.
- Respect guest privacy at all times.
- Properly position the meal, tray, or cart according to hotel procedures and guest preference.
- Explain the order or service setup when appropriate.
- Confirm whether the guest requires anything additional before completing the delivery.
- Thank the guest and provide a professional farewell.
- Immediately report any guest concern or unusual situation to management.
TABLE, TRAY & CART RETRIEVAL
- Monitor hallways and guest floors for used IRD trays, carts, and service equipment.
- Retrieve service equipment promptly according to hotel procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized IRD equipment.
- Return trays, carts, and equipment to the appropriate location.
- Clean and sanitize IRD equipment after use.
- Prevent equipment from remaining in guest corridors for extended periods.
- Communicate retrieval concerns to management.
CLEANLINESS & SANITATION
- Maintain a clean and organized IRD service area.
- Clean and sanitize trays, carts, service equipment, and work surfaces.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain proper personal hygiene and handwashing practices.
- Ensure food is transported and handled safely.
- Properly dispose of trash and waste.
- Report sanitation, maintenance, or safety concerns immediately.
TEAMWORK & COMMUNICATION
- Work closely with the culinary team to ensure timely order execution.
- Maintain clear communication with the kitchen regarding guest requests and special orders.
- Communicate with servers, bartenders, managers, and other Food & Beverage associates.
- Notify management of guest concerns, service delays, or operational issues.
- Assist with other Food & Beverage responsibilities when needed and directed by management.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all associates.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
All IRD Servers are expected to:
- Maintain a clean, polished, and professional appearance at all times.
- Wear the required uniform and maintain proper grooming.
- Remain attentive and engaged while on duty.
- Personal cell phone use is not permitted while working, except when authorized by management.

- Follow all Delta Hotels, Marriott, hotel, company, food safety, and sanitation policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous Toast POS experience is required.
- Previous hotel, restaurant, hospitality, or food service experience required.
- Previous In-Room Dining experience preferred.
- Experience working in a cashless operation preferred.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
AM and PM shifts available.
Schedules will vary based on hotel occupancy, guest demand, and business needs.
AM Shift: 6:00 AM–11:00 AM
PM Shift: 4:30 PM–10:00 PM
Open and flexible availability is required, including:

Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
COMPENSATION
$9.25 per hour + tips
