A day in the Carpenter Shop

Step onto the shop floor and start by reviewing the day’s orders. You’ll study templates, pull measurements, and select materials. With precision, you’ll cut lumber to spec, assemble sturdy crates, skids, and wooden boxes, and add custom inserts so each part ships protected. Once built, you’ll mark each crate—stamping, stenciling, and labeling—so it moves seamlessly through shipping.

After packaging finished products, you’ll verify contents against pick lists, prioritize what needs to go first, and stage outbound loads. You’ll also pivot to support the dock: preparing and processing shipments, receiving and inspecting incoming goods, and keeping inventory records accurate and up to date.

What you’ll build and support

• Crates and skids using shop templates and set measurements
• Custom wooden boxes, cutting pieces to length and creating protective inserts
• Clearly marked packaging via stamps, stencils, and labels
• Finished-goods packaging, content checks, and order prioritization
• Other carpentry projects (shelves, cabinets, display cases) with paint/varnish as needed
• Backup coverage for shipping and receiving when required

Tools and equipment you’ll handle

• Table saws, nail and staple guns, cranes, and precision measuring tools
• Warehouse equipment operated safely and efficiently—experience with both sit-down and stand-up equipment is required

What you bring

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1–3 years in a manufacturing setting working with saws, nailers/staplers, cranes, and measurement tools
• Background in shipping, receiving, and warehouse processes in manufacturing preferred
• Strong organization and time management; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in packaging and documentation
• Clear communication and a collaborative approach
