    SUMMARY STATEMENT

    The Industrial Electrical Registered Apprenticeship Adjunct plays a crucial role in supporting individuals pursuing Registered Apprenticeships in the manufacturing field. This position provides skillsets to interact with manufacturers who need to enhance their workforce to address the unique challenges of electrical maintenance on the manufacturing floor. The adjunct would be involved in evaluating and delivering curriculum in this topic area.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    A. The Industrial Electrical Registered Apprenticeship Adjunct reports directly to and is responsible to the Senior Program Manager for Workforce Training

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    A. Curriculum Evaluation: Ensuring that curriculum aligns with Registered Apprenticeship requirements and meets customer needs.

    B. Employer Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with manufacturing employers to understand their hiring needs and identify potential job opportunities for participants.

    C. Professional Development: Stay current on industry trends, job market information, and best practices in workforce development.

    D. Knowledge of Key Teaching Components for Electrical Apprentices:

    • Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including motors, drives, PLCs and control panels
    • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and technical documentation
    • Learn to work with voltages up to 600VAC including 480 VAC and 277 VAC
    • Support troubleshooting of electrical faults and assist in root cause analysis
    • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability
    • Learn to use diagnostic tools and software for monitoring system performance.
    • Follow all applicable safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and NFPA 70E, to ensure a safe working environment
    • Consistently apply internal safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and electrical safety practices
    • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Learn and gain an understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Mechanics.
    • Use of Electrical test meters and equipment to diagnose breakdowns
    • Planning of electrical jobs, calculate, and order supplies/materials
    • Problem solve and evaluate breakdowns for repairs
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to prevent accidents and support operational efficiency
    • Attend regular meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and business updates
    • Consistently demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, ensuring availability to support training, education, team objectives and operational efficiency
    • Accurately record all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs and replacements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Completed registered apprenticeship program with minimum of Journeymen status.
    • Demonstrated experience in workforce training or industry mentoring for Registered Apprentices.
    • Knowledge of the electrical and manufacturing industry and related trades preferred.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Excellent organizational and case management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    Work is performed in a combination of classroom, lab, and manufacturing floor environments. The position requires periods of standing, walking, and facilitating hands on instruction. Interruptions may occur due to student needs, employer coordination, or training adjustments. When visiting employer sites or conducting instruction in industrial labs, the adjunct may be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions such as noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures, and occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Light to moderate lifting (up to 40 lbs.) may be required for instructional materials or equipment. The role involves regular use of electrical testing instruments, computers, and instructional technology. Evening or weekend hours may be necessary to meet apprenticeship training schedules and employer needs.
