Industrial Electrician - PM12 hour continental Shift South Plant

Position: Industrial Electrician
Location: Oak Creek, WI 53154
Schedule: 12-Hour AM or PM Continental Shifts
Pay Rate: $42.00–$46.00/hour

Position Summary:

The Master Electrician is responsible for supporting daily production operations by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing electrical, packaging, bakery, and industrial equipment. This role focuses on minimizing equipment downtime while ensuring all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently, and accurately. The position also supports preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, continuous improvement, and training of maintenance staff and apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, packaging equipment, and bakery equipment to minimize production downtime.
• Install and repair electrical systems, components, power supply wiring, conduit, motors, transformers, relays, switches, and safety devices.
• Diagnose electrical faults using meters and other electrical test equipment and replace faulty electrical components as required.
• Troubleshoot complex machinery and electrical systems, including motors, transformers, relays, safety relays, and position-sensing devices.
• Support instrumentation, packaging systems, process control systems, and PLC troubleshooting, including connecting to PLCs, going online, and replacing I/O cards.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment and support equipment changeovers according to production schedules.
• Create and maintain work orders using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/EAM).
• Source and prepare parts from stores for repairs, work orders, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical manuals, instructions, and technical bulletins; install electrical components within control panels.
• Prepare basic dimensioned sketches when required.
• Maintain and follow site safety programs, including lockout/tagout, confined space, arc flash, and electrical safety procedures.
• Communicate electrical hazards, maintenance techniques, and safe work practices to production staff and apprentices.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and continuous improvement teams and contribute to solutions for general maintenance issues.
• Participate actively in maintenance team meetings and support the development of autonomous, preventive, and predictive electrical maintenance programs.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an electrician, with at least 5 years of experience performing complex electrical maintenance assignments preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment; large-scale bakery experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Wisconsin electrical codes, safety requirements, and arc flash safety.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems using meters and other electrical test equipment.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation, packaging/process control systems, and PLCs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant electrical license or certification required; Master Electrician license preferred.
• Technical college or vocational training is an asset.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong written, verbal, and communication skills.
• Ability to use power tools and other equipment commonly used in maintenance and construction.
• Ability to train and guide apprentices and production employees.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand, climb, stoop, and perform repetitive motions for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work in awkward or confined positions.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures and humidity, including industrial bakery environments.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and occasionally around fumes, solvents, adhesives, and other industrial materials.
