Job Description

What a Day Looks Like

You start your shift reviewing equipment status and safety checklists, then walk the floor to keep the plant’s manufacturing systems running reliably. You apply preventive maintenance, track down root causes, and get machines back online quickly. Along the way, you use lean tools like VSM, Kaizen, and A3 thinking to remove waste and improve uptime. When a line slows, you may step in to operate processing machinery, adjust settings, and help reduce downtime while coaching teammates on safe tool use and basic maintenance. Before the day ends, you verify parts on order, inspect ice quality for clarity, cube size, and hole space, and flag fresh improvement ideas to the Operations Manager.

Pay Range $28-$33

Purpose of the Role

Ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and minor repair of plant manufacturing systems and physical property, while driving continuous improvement and value for customers, employees, and shareholders.

How You’ll Create Impact

  • Execute preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and repair production equipment to restore performance rapidly.
  • Operate processing equipment as needed to improve processing times and decrease downtime.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to maintain manufacturing and facility assets.
  • Support water plant operations: ice makers, compressors, heat exchangers, ammonia and Freon refrigeration, pumps, and condensers.
  • Verify equipment readiness and ensure supplies and spares are on hand; manage ordering and inventory of repair parts and ready-service equipment.
  • Inspect production quality by visually checking ice clarity, cube size, and hole spacing.
  • Use root cause analysis and implement countermeasures; conduct basic data analysis to pinpoint issues.
  • Perform minor building and grounds upkeep (e.g., lightbulbs, painting, small structural fixes).
  • Coach others on safe, proper use of tools/equipment for general facility maintenance.
  • Assist with bagging product as needed; occasionally direct workflow based on equipment output.
  • Independently perform basic electrical/electronic systems maintenance.
  • Escalate opportunities for continuous improvement to the Operations Manager; participate and lead Kaizen and value stream mapping.
  • Complete safety checklists as required by the Safety/Risk Management Department.
  • Identify, monitor, and correct industrial health and safety issues; apply advanced electrical and chemical safety controls.
  • Uphold our Code of Business Ethics and maintain the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and personal safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
