Industrial Maintenance Electrician — PLC/Drives Specialist

A day in the life

You start your shift reviewing scheduled PMs, then head to the floor to install or commission equipment. A conveyor stalls—you trace the fault from sensor to PLC, validate the issue with a digital multimeter and oscilloscope, and bring it back online. Later, you fine‑tune a VFD, inspect AC/DC motors, and document work in the CMMS. Throughout, you model safe work behaviors—LOTO, NEC/NFPA 70E, and spotless housekeeping—while collaborating across maintenance and production.

What you'll handle

• Execute advanced electrical maintenance and equipment installations.
• Repair and perform PM on AC/DC motors, drives (DC, VFD, servo), pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, packaging systems, instrumentation, and PLC controls.
• Diagnose downtime events, pinpoint root causes, and complete repairs to restore equipment to optimal condition.
• Follow lockout/tagout and all plant safety rules; maintain excellent housekeeping.
• Work independently and as part of a team; perform other duties as assigned while modeling company core values.

Required background

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least four (4) years of Industrial Maintenance experience and/or equivalent vocational/technical training (certificate/diploma).
• Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, on‑call, rotating shifts, and holidays.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Troubleshooting using instruments such as a digital multimeter, oscilloscope, and megger.
• Comfort using a computer for documentation and record keeping.
• Capable of working in extreme heat/cold and navigating catwalks and ladders.
• Physical capability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, and bend.
• Clear, constructive communication and comprehension of complex instructions and documentation.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts in an industrial setting; team‑oriented and eager to learn new skills.
• Full commitment to safety (NEC and NFPA 70E, including LOTO and Arc Flash).
• Knowledge of DC and AC motors/motor controls; DC, VFD, and servo drives.
• Knowledge of single‑phase and three‑phase power distribution.
• Knowledge of process instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, level, weight, etc.).
• Knowledge of PLC controls, HMI interfaces, and control network architectures.
• Working knowledge of basic industrial mechanical issues.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with CMMS.
• Knowledge of fire alarm and protection systems.
• Hands‑on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Strong root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio (Editor, ME, and SE), AB PowerFlex VFDs, Kinetix servos, and EtherNet/IP networks using AB Stratix switches.
