Job Description

Job Details

$80-90K annually

You will instruct 6 weeks virtually and 3 weeks on campus for hands on training

Position Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Technology (IMT) Instructor delivers the Client Company Technician IMT track to client associates. This role covers electrical fundamentals, motor theory and controls, circuit protection, power transmission, and introductory fluid power, light plumbing and standard industrial maintenance required in a distribution center. Students who complete the IMT curriculum will gain a skills pathway from new or entry level associate to intermediate level maintenance technician. The IMT Instructor builds that foundation deliberately and completely.

Responsibilities:

Instruction and Curriculum Delivery

Deliver assigned program curriculum in classroom and lab settings with technical accuracy and instructional clarity

Follow the curriculum as designed. Content is not substituted or modified without approval from the Senior Director or B2B Curriculum Manager

Adapt delivery style to meet the needs of adult learners across varying levels of prior experience without compromising technical content or pacing

Prepare for each session in advance. Students and client personnel notice the difference between an instructor who is ready and one who is not

Maintain accurate attendance records and student progress documentation throughout each cohort

Identify students who are struggling and intervene early.

Lab Management and Safety

Set up and manage the lab environment for each session; equipment operational, materials staged, space organized before students arrive

Enforce all safety protocols without exception. PPE, OSHA compliance, and lab conduct standards are non-negotiable

Reset the lab at the conclusion of each cohort to full operational condition

Maintain the lab to a standard that reflects professional pride, not minimum compliance

Student Engagement and Outcomes

Hold students to the standard the program requires.

Create a learning environment that is structured, respectful, and demanding. Adult learners with little to no field experience respond to instructors who know their material and expect instructor effort

Manage classroom and lab conduct consistently. Address disruption or disengagement directly and professionally

Provide students with clear, actionable feedback throughout the program, not only at formal evaluation points

Professional Conduct and Client Representation

Conduct yourself as a representative of Client Company in every interaction

Communicate with client personnel professionally and within the scope of your role. Questions or concerns that exceed that scope are escalated to the Senior Director within the same business day

Complete all reporting, documentation, and administrative requirements on time

Communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, or student concerns to the Senior Director proactively

IMT-Specific Technical Delivery

Deliver technician basics including hand and power tools, math fundamentals, metric system and measurement, fasteners and torque specifications, and introduction to maintenance technician responsibilities

Deliver electrical theory curriculum including nature of electricity, circuit analysis, AC fundamentals, capacitors, and introductory print reading. Students must learn to use a multimeter confidently

Electrical labs; wire stripping, electrical device wiring and testing, DMM functions, Romex wiring, and receptacle lab projects. Lab execution must be safe, structured, and hands-on for every student

Deliver motors and generators content including motor theory, induction and DC motors, motor nameplate interpretation, and common failure symptoms and troubleshooting

Deliver circuit protection content including circuit breakers, industrial fuses, overcurrent protection, and fault identification; short circuits, overloads, and ground faults

Conduct electrical labs including switching and controls wiring, capacitor wiring lab, and electrical troubleshooting labs

Deliver introductory hydraulics and pneumatics content with emphasis on system understanding, component identification, and basic troubleshooting

Deliver power transmission curriculum covering belts, chains, bearings, gears, and shaft alignment concepts

Conduct fluid power and mechanical labs with hands-on assembly, alignment, tensioning, and inspection activities

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED minimum with related field experience.

Ability to work individually and within a group

Excellent written and communication skills

5 or more years of hands-on field experience in the assigned technical discipline within the past 10 years

Proficiency with basic digital tools including documentation platforms and learning management systems

Hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems, motor controls, or general maintenance technology

Ability to teach from foundational concepts through applied lab work, this is not an advanced-only role

Comfortable working with adult learners who have no formal technical training background

NFPA 70E and OSHA 10 certification

People Responsibilities:

No direct responsibilities required

Physical Environment:

Work can be performed in a variety of settings, from temperature-controlled office environments to outdoor areas exposed to the elements

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment

Stooping, bending twisting, and reaching may be required

Work may be completed in classroom or shop environment

Other Duties:
