Be the reason our lines keep running
Nearly a century ago, a small Rhode Island tire shop set the foundation for what Teknor Apex has become today: a global custom compounder with nine U.S. facilities and operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China. Still privately held, we remain true to the Fain family’s focus on long-term relationships—with employees and customers alike—to build solutions that power better products around the world.
This role keeps our production and facilities equipment performing to spec, minimizing downtime and maintaining throughput across the plant.
A day in the life
You start the afternoon reviewing planned maintenance tasks, then move to a priority repair on an extruder gearbox. After verifying LOTO, you swap a worn coupling, check alignment, and bring the line back up. A call comes in for a tripped breaker on a chiller; you trace the fault, replace a contactor, and log the fix. You finish the shift knocking out PMs on air compressors and dust collectors, documenting work orders and prepping parts for an upcoming plant shutdown.
What you’ll tackle
- Install, service, and repair production and facilities equipment—independently and safely.
- Follow LOTO and all safety protocols without exception.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical systems: pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, dust collectors, fans, heat exchangers, gearboxes, valves, extruders, and related support equipment.
- Troubleshoot and replace electrical components: circuit breakers, fuses, contactors, solenoids, safety switches, transducers, electro-mechanical and solid-state relays, and electrical heating systems.
- Support facilities infrastructure: process and vacuum pumps, electrical power and controls, air compressors, chillers, pneumatic controls, valves, and HVAC systems.
- Perform minor welding, cutting, and light fabrication.
- Execute PMs and accurately complete work order documentation.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to plan effective repairs.
- Operate shop tools, electrical meters, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment as needed.
- Plan and organize tasks for daily operations, projects, and plant shutdowns, while maintaining clean work areas.
