Industrial Robotics Controls Technician

A day in this role

You start your shift by walking the line—checking robotic finishing cells and the robotic wax manufacturing area. A controller throws a fault; you methodically trace it, isolate the root cause, and implement a durable fix. Between events, you refine motion paths on multiple robot controllers, then document the changes in clean, well-organized code repositories so the team always knows what changed and why.

Midday, you partner with production, maintenance, and engineering to coordinate equipment availability, ensuring uptime and quality targets stay on track. As the SPA (Subject matter/Process Area expert) for robotic equipment and process operations, you guide colleagues through best practices, champion process and programming updates, and communicate equipment status with clarity. Throughout, you follow all EHS rules to keep yourself and your teammates safe.

What you will do

• Provide hands-on manufacturing support for robotic finishing and robotic wax manufacturing equipment.
• Increase reliability and productivity of robotic cells through preventive maintenance, optimization, and robust fixes.
• Program robots, fine-tune motion using various controllers, and fully document code and equipment changes.
• Serve as SPA for robotic equipment and process operations, influencing adoption of improvements.
• Collaborate across manufacturing functions to keep equipment running smoothly and resolve issues quickly.
• Apply structured troubleshooting to diagnose automated equipment problems and implement permanent solutions.
• Communicate clearly with teammates and cross-functional partners on equipment status and issues.
• Comply with all EHS rules required for the work environment.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• At least 1 year of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred.
• Hands-on experience assessing automated equipment and processes and resolving equipment issues.
• Robotic programming capability to refine movement with a range of industrial controllers.
• Experience with industrial controllers; ability to read mechanical and electrical prints.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude; methodical troubleshooting approach.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; clear oral and written communication.
• Organized and disciplined—focused on lasting corrective actions over temporary workarounds.
• Robotics programming background and Weld Tech 2 certification (from Shape) are a strong plus.
