Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), Cloud Security

About the Role

This position involves serving as the security lead for cloud systems in a defense program transitioning legacy systems to the cloud. Your role is crucial in implementing and maintaining security controls, ensuring compliance, and protecting sensitive information. You will work closely with network and systems engineers and coordinate directly with the Authorizing Official to drive security initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain NIST 800-53 and DoD security controls for cloud systems.
• Drive RMF activities, accreditation packages, and continuous monitoring.
• Run vulnerability scans with ACAS, manage Trellix ESS, and turn findings into fixes.
• Perform cloud vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Harden systems, networks, and operating systems; manage access controls (ACLs, LDAP, Active Directory), VPNs, and encryption.
• Monitor security incidents and coordinate the response across cloud environments.
• Perform risk and impact assessments, ensuring program compliance with NISPOM and ICD requirements.
• Maintain security awareness training and personnel compliance.

Minimum Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility.
• 16 years of information security experience, including significant cloud security work.
• 5 years of DoD enterprise security experience.
• 3 years of hands-on experience with cloud security frameworks; working knowledge of FedRAMP.
• CISSP, CISM, or another DoD 8570 compliant certification, plus Security.
• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, IT, computer science, or a related field, or 10 years of experience in place of a degree.
• US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

• GCIH, GSEC, CISA, CEH, SSCP, FITSP-M, or another advanced security certification.
• Experience supporting a DoD cloud migration from start to finish.

Work Environment

• Location: Arlington, VA (100% onsite).
