Information Technology Intern | Summer 2027

Summary:

American Credit Acceptance is seeking motivated and curious students to join our Information Technology team as interns. Interns will gain hands-on experience working on meaningful technology projects while learning how IT supports the business.

Interns may be assigned to areas such as Application Development, Data Engineering, Data Platforms, Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Technology Operations, Cybersecurity, or Project Management based on their interests, skills, and business needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Learn the business processes, systems, and technologies supported by your assigned team.
• Contribute to technology projects and process-improvement opportunities with guidance from experienced team members.
• Collaborate with technology teams and business partners to understand needs and develop solutions.
• Assist with developing, testing, analyzing, documenting, or improving technology solutions based on your assignment.
• Use approved AI and technology tools to research, analyze, automate, and solve problems while validating work for accuracy and quality.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, user experience, or business processes.
• Communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations to team members and leaders.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
• Strong interest in technology and solving business problems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and business processes.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to one or more of the following is helpful but not required:

• Programming, scripting, SQL, databases, or data analysis.
• Cloud, networking, infrastructure, or cybersecurity concepts.
• AI tools, automation, Git/source control, Agile, or project-management practices.
• Academic, personal, internship, or other hands-on technology projects.

What Success Looks Like

A successful IT intern will demonstrate curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. They will seek to understand the business problem before jumping to a solution, collaborate effectively with others, use technology and AI responsibly, and take ownership of delivering quality work.

By the end of the internship, interns should be able to demonstrate what they learned, the work they contributed, and the impact their project or assignment had on their team or the business.
