Job Description
Nevada Robotics at DRI is hiring part-time educators to support PreK - 12 teacher professional development and robot/drone education outreach across the state.
Positions are available in Reno and Elko and job responsibilities include the following:
Preparing materials, robots, and drones for professional development workshops and STEM outreach events including the loading and unloading of materials and books.
Supporting and teaching at statewide professional development robotics and drone workshops.
Assisting classroom and club educators with the implementation of robotics and drones in various education settings.
Preparing for and leading STEM family outreach events.
Judging and refereeing at robotics and drone competitions and events.
Other related duties as assigned.
No robotics or drone experience necessary as training will be provided. These positions are ideal for retired educators or part-time substitute teachers.
Reno: On average this part-time position is 5 - 15 hours a week and requires mid-day, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts. When traveling for statewide teacher training events, staff may accrue up to 30 hours a week.
Elko: On average this part-time position is 5-15 hours a week and requires Friday in-person office shifts on the Great Basin College campus, possible travel to Reno and neighboring communities, and afternoon, evening, and weekend work.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field
Minimum 3-4 years of related experience in an educational setting such as the classroom, or related teaching experience including STEM, robotics, computer science, drones, or related topics.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Elementary Education or related field
4+ years of classroom teaching experience and Nevada teaching license
4+ years of experience teaching robotics topics in a classroom setting, including drones
Certifications for the VEX 123 and VEX Go classroom robots
Physical Requirements: This position may need to occasionally perform physical tasks such as lifting objects of up to 60 lbs., stooping, bending, and kneeling and standing for long periods of time.
