Our teams develop and scale emerging technologies from early concept through commercialization. As an Innovations Engineering Co-op, you will work alongside engineers, scientists, technicians, and operations teams on hands-on projects that advance technologies through laboratory, prototype, pilot, and manufacturing environments.

Potential Technical Focus Areas

Assignments will be based on business needs, project availability, and the student’s academic background and interests. Projects may include one or more of the following areas:

  • Process Engineering - Support process development, experimentation, process characterization, scale-up, pilot operations, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and manufacturing-process improvement.
  • Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering - Analyze workflows, process capacity, cycle time, equipment utilization, material flow, labor requirements, and operational performance. Support process mapping, Lean initiatives, standard work, and scalable operating-process design.
  • Engineering Data Analytics - Analyze laboratory, pilot, equipment, sensor, manufacturing, or operational data. Develop reports, dashboards, visualizations, databases, automated workflows, or data pipelines that enable data-informed decisions.
  • Automation, Controls, and Measurement - Support work involving sensors, instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, robotics, mechanical equipment automation, and connected manufacturing systems.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience advancing early-stage technologies and new operational capabilities.
  • Exposure to laboratory, prototype, pilot, manufacturing, automation, and data-rich technical environments.
  • Mentorship from engineers, scientists, technical leaders, and operational professionals.
  • Experience applying engineering, data analysis, experimentation, and continuous-improvement methods to real-world challenges.
  • Direct contribution to meaningful projects with visible technical and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to hands-on engineering projects that advance emerging technologies from laboratory and prototype development through pilot and manufacturing environments.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate experimental, equipment, manufacturing, or operational data to support technical decisions and project progress.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, process improvement, documentation, and implementation activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Follow applicable safety, quality, environmental, and operational requirements; present findings and recommendations to project stakeholders.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, Electrical, Systems, Automation, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering; Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Mathematics; or a closely related engineering or technical discipline. Enrollment must be active at the start of employment
  • Demonstrated engagement with engineering or technical problem-solving through coursework, laboratory work, research, or prior co-op or internship experience
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site, for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience applying data analysis or statistical methods using engineering, manufacturing, or analytical software through coursework, projects, research, or prior work.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Computer-Aided Design (CAD), process simulation, Python, SQL, R, MATLAB, JMP, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Design of Experiments (DOE), Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, root-cause analysis, sensors, instrumentation, controls, automation, or data acquisition.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, research, pilot, manufacturing, operations, or other hands-on technical environment.
