We have an exciting opportunity for Inside Machinists in Chesapeake, Virginia for with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry. 
 
Qualifications
  • Must possess OSHA 10 certification 
  • Must have a minimum of six (6) years of experience as an Inside Machinist in a shipyard, industrial, or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Must have journeyman-level skill with the ability to perform all machining tasks independently and without supervision.
  • Must be proficient in manual and CNC machining operations, including setup, programming, and operation.
  • Strong ability to interpret and work from complex blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Expertise in machining a variety of materials and achieving tight tolerances and required surface finishes.
  • Working knowledge of feed and speed rates and machining characteristics of metals, alloys, and composites.
  • Ability to fabricate and use fixtures, jigs, and tooling as needed for custom parts.
  • Job Duties Include but not limited to
  • Set up and operate a variety of manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.) to manufacture and repair mechanical components.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (lathes and mills) for precision machining operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling, and setup requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials and machining operations.
  • Measure, mark, and lay out workpieces to ensure accurate machining and assembly.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height/depth gauges, and dial indicators to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Manufacture or modify parts from stock materials in accordance with engineering drawings and standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation of measurements, machining data, and work performed.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Hours:
  • First Shift: 6am-4:30pm
  • Second Shift: 4am-2:30pm 
  • Schedule: Mandatory 50-hour work week (5 days × 10 hours)
Pay:
  • Pay starts at $35/hour
