Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Inside Sales Associate for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a construction supply company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position involves assisting contractors and construction professionals with product inquiries, preparing quotes, processing orders, and building strong customer relationships to support repeat business.

The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple customer requests while providing professional service.

Candidates should be comfortable working with pricing, product quantities, order-processing systems, and customer communications.

An immediate start is preferred. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training alongside an experienced employee before their planned retirement at the end of the year.

This position offers $18.00 per hour during the temp-to-hire period, with a transition to salary plus commission upon permanent hire.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Previous inside sales, customer service, order entry, or construction supply experience is preferred but not required.

Applicants should be comfortable assisting customers over the phone, through email, and in person while maintaining a professional and helpful attitude.

Strong computer skills and the ability to learn sales, inventory, and order-processing software are important.

Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple customer requests throughout the workday.

Basic math skills and the ability to accurately work with product pricing, quantities, and order calculations are essential.

Dependable attendance, punctuality, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn construction-related products are required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist contractors, construction professionals, and other customers with product inquiries, pricing, availability, and order requests.

Communicate with customers by phone, email, and in person to provide professional sales and customer service support.

Learn the company's products and help customers identify supplies that meet their project requirements.

Prepare customer quotes, accurately enter sales orders, and follow up on outstanding requests.

Coordinate with warehouse and delivery personnel to support accurate and timely order fulfillment.

Build and maintain positive relationships with existing customers to encourage repeat business.

Identify opportunities to recommend related products and additional supplies based on customer needs.

Address customer concerns, communicate order updates, and provide information regarding product availability or delivery delays.

Maintain accurate customer information, order records, pricing details, and sales documentation.

Work closely with other team members to support daily sales operations and customer satisfaction.

Perform additional inside sales and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Inside Sales & Customer Service

Candidates will serve as a primary point of contact for customers purchasing construction-related products and supplies.

Responsibilities include answering product questions, providing pricing information, preparing orders, and helping customers locate the materials they need.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with contractors and repeat customers are important.

Construction Supply Product Knowledge

The selected candidate will learn the company's product offerings and develop an understanding of the materials commonly used by contractors and construction professionals.

Responsibilities include helping customers identify appropriate supplies, explaining product availability, and recommending related products when applicable.

Previous construction supply experience is valuable, but candidates with strong sales and customer service backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Order Entry, Quotes & Pricing

Prepare accurate customer quotes and enter orders into the company's sales or order-processing system.

Candidates must be comfortable working with pricing, quantities, product information, and basic calculations.

Customer Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, existing customers, and prospective buyers.

Warehouse & Delivery Coordination

Work closely with warehouse and delivery personnel to ensure customer orders are prepared and fulfilled accurately.

Communicate product availability, order changes, delivery updates, and customer concerns to the appropriate departments.

Strong organizational skills and teamwork are essential for maintaining efficient order fulfillment.

Training & Career Development

An immediate start is preferred to allow for hands-on training before an experienced employee retires at the end of the year.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to learn company products, customer relationships, order-processing procedures, and daily inside sales operations.

This training period provides an opportunity to develop the knowledge needed to independently manage customer requests and support ongoing sales activities.

Upon permanent hire, compensation transitions to a salary-plus-commission structure.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as an Inside Sales Associate, Counter Sales Representative, Customer Service Representative, Sales Coordinator, or Order Entry Specialist is preferred.
