Installation Technician – VoIP & Networking

Location: Lewisville, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with after-hours/weekend on-call rotation
Compensation: Starting at $20/hour, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Installation Technician to join a growing technology team in Lewisville, TX. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position responsible for installing and supporting business VoIP phone systems, network equipment, and related infrastructure.

The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with customers, troubleshooting technical issues, and being out in the field. This role provides exposure to VoIP, routing, switching, network configuration, cabling, and MikroTik equipment, with opportunities to expand your technical skills as you grow.

This position does require out-of-town travel, including some installations that may involve consecutive weeks away from home. Technicians will return by end of day Friday.

Key Responsibilities

VoIP Installation & Field Services

• Install, configure, and maintain business VoIP phone systems.
• Perform onsite installations with a strong focus on accuracy, organization, and customer experience.
• Handle onsite cabling for VoIP phones and related equipment as needed.
• Assist with the deployment and configuration of routers, switches, and other network equipment.
• Develop hands-on experience with networking technologies, including MikroTik.
• Troubleshoot VoIP, connectivity, and network issues during and after installations.
• Travel to customer locations for installations, maintenance, and technical support.

Customer Support & Training

• Serve as a professional technical point of contact while onsite with customers.
• Train customer staff on their new phone system following installation.
• Respond to technical issues by phone, email, and ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot customer network and VoIP issues and work toward timely resolution.
• Assist with customer router and network configuration and maintenance.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as needed.

Documentation & Team Collaboration

• Thoroughly document installations, configurations, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
• Keep customer and project information accurate and current.
• Collaborate with other technicians and share technical knowledge.
• Identify opportunities to improve installation processes and customer support.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 2–3 years of networking, VoIP, technical support, installation, or related experience preferred.
• Education or technical training in networking and troubleshooting may be considered in place of experience.
• Understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, port forwarding, LANs, routers, firewalls, and basic routing/switching.
• Ability to troubleshoot networks and identify connectivity or configuration issues.
• Comfortable learning new technologies and equipment in a hands-on environment.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical users.
• Strong documentation and note-taking skills.
• Comfortable providing technical support over the phone as well as onsite.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and installations simultaneously.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license required.
• Ability and willingness to travel for customer installations, including overnight and out-of-town assignments.
