CLASS TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT (SUBSTITUTE) RANGE: 30 STEP: 1 BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a Principal, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom, program or other learning environment; assist teachers with the preparation of instructional materials; tutor students in assigned subject areas. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in working with children in an organized setting. NCLB requirements allow for one of the following: A. Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education, B. Obtained an AA (or higher) degree, C. Met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instruction reading, writing and mathematics (or readiness in those subject areas). LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid First aid and CPR certificates.

Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
