Position purpose

A non-tenure track, full-time faculty position for the Aviation Training Institute.

The Aviation Training Institute houses non-collegiate studies in an FAA approved part 147 curriculum allowing students to prepare themselves for careers in aviation maintenance.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

1. Teaches lecture and laboratory classes in general, airframe, and power plant curriculums;

2. Grades projects and exams; maintains student attendance and grade records as per FAA requirements

3. Assist with work groups to enhance laboratory and lecture experiences

4. Advises ATI students;

5. Supports student learning and activities; enhances educational materials as appropriate

6. As directed by VP of Training, assists with the evaluation of adjuncts -both in lab and lecture environment

7. Participates in departmental meetings/projects and serves on college wide committees/initiatives

8. Attend College wide events, such as Open House, etc.

1. Education and/or Experience Requirements

A minimum requirement for this position is FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications

2. Professional Skills

Ability to meet the requirements of designated maintenance examiner applicants

3. Reasoning Ability

Ability to operate machinery in a safe manner - following established procedures

Ability to understand and follow directions both written and verbal

4. Work environment and physical functions

This position is located in both a classroom and a hanger/ramp area. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within those areas.

5. Preferred:

A bachelor’s degree as well a minimum of two years aviation maintenance experience

Prior teaching experience

Compensation and benefits:

Salary: $55,000 for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education as well as internal equity.
