Position purpose

A non-tenure track, full-time faculty position for the Aviation Training Institute.

The Aviation Training Institute houses non-collegiate studies in an FAA approved part 147 curriculum allowing students to prepare themselves for careers in aviation maintenance.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Teaches lecture and laboratory classes in general, airframe, and power plant curriculums;

  • Grades projects and exams; maintains student attendance and grade records as per FAA requirements

  • Assist with work groups to enhance laboratory and lecture experiences

  • Advises ATI students;

  • Supports student learning and activities; enhances educational materials as appropriate

  • As directed by VP of Training, assists with the evaluation of adjuncts -both in lab and lecture environment

  • Participates in departmental meetings/projects and serves on college wide committees/initiatives

  • Attend College wide events, such as Open House, etc.

A minimum requirement for this position is FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications

Ability to meet the requirements of designated maintenance examiner applicants

Ability to operate machinery in a safe manner - following established procedures

Ability to understand and follow directions both written and verbal

  • Work environment and physical functions

This position is located in both a classroom and a hanger/ramp area. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within those areas.

  • Preferred:

A bachelor's degree as well a minimum of two years aviation maintenance experience

Prior teaching experience

Compensation and benefits:

Salary: $55,000 for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education as well as internal equity.
