    Starting Date Spring 2027 Responsibilities

    Position Description and Expectations: The Department of Biology in the McCoy College of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month non-tenure-track Instructor, to begin Spring 2027.

    As a faculty member in the Department of Biology, you will be expected to:

    1. Teach 12 credit hours (generally four courses) per semester (Fall and Spring) of biology courses at MSUs campus in Wichita Falls, TX

    2. Participate in departmental, college, and university service and administration

    The McCoy College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering currently has 52 full-time faculty members in 6 academic departments/schools. The College serves more than 700 students in STEM majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, and Geosciences.

    Comprising eight faculty, the Department of Biology offers several undergraduate and 2 graduate degrees. Faculty are committed to providing a strong foundation in the principles of biology with training in basic field/laboratory research methods.

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    1. M.S. in Biology or a closely related field with a strong emphasis in Anatomy & Physiology

    2. Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses

    3. Strong communication skills

    4. Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships

    Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

    • Individuals with experience developing and teaching a high-quality, online course for Anatomy & Physiology

    Standard Requirements

    Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.

    This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
