Position Summary
The GISD Instructor for Medium/Heavy Truck Technician is responsible for leading the instructional program and implementing activities for high school students working toward careers in medium/heavy truck technician. The instructor is responsible for meeting the unique needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in medium/heavy truck technician professions.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree or higher preferred. Valid Michigan Standard CTE Certificate, Professional CTE Certificate, or eligible for an Annual Career Authorization with a minimum of 4,000 recent and relevant hours of work experience in the field within the past ten (10) years. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in brakes, steering and suspension, electrical, and preventive maintenance and repair.

Skills/Other: Demonstrates appropriate teaching strategies for all students. Demonstrates an understanding of adolescent developmental patterns. Demonstrates a commitment to Genesee Intermediate School District mission, purpose, belief statements and learning principles. Possesses a strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning. Possesses a high level of skill in developing stimulating student assignments and varied student assessment vehicles. Possesses an ability to develop and reinforce a positive self-concept in each student. Excellent interpersonal skills. Exhibits self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Demonstrates appropriate teaching strategies for diverse student population. Ability to utilize district technology, and work to maintain proficiency, as skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Ability to assess and determine the appropriate use of a variety of student assessment tools. Demonstrate mental/physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials, repetitive stooping, squatting, bending, lifting, walking, kneeling and reaching while maintaining personal balance and stability. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $38,372 - $56,690 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Work Schedule: 186 days / 7 hours daily
