Insurance Defense Associate - Transportation (3+ Years)

A growing regional business law firm with offices across the Southwest is hiring an insurance defense associate in Houston to defend transportation and trucking matters for businesses, individuals, and insurers.

Responsibilities
- Defend auto, tractor-trailer, bus, crane, dump truck, and wrongful death claims
- Investigate accidents, analyze evidence, assess liability, and build defense strategy
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
- Communicate with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and the court

Requirements
- J.D. and licensed with the State Bar of Texas
- Minimum 3 years of litigation or insurance defense experience
- Strong research, writing, and negotiation skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team; willing to travel as needed

Compensation and benefits
- Base salary $110,000-$165,000, based on years of experience and bar admission date
- Quarterly bonus plan tied to billables, with the potential to earn up to $52,000+ more per year
- Health, dental, and vision starting the first of the month after hire
- 401(k) with firm match
- Annual bar dues paid
- 10 holidays plus 4 early-release days

Work arrangement
Full-time, hybrid: 3 days in the Houston office, 2 days from home.
