Compensation: $48-$58/hour

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in the Novi, Michigan area to identify an experienced Interim Controller. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to make an immediate impact by overseeing accounting operations, driving financial reporting excellence, and providing strategic financial leadership during a transitional period. There is potential for the position to convert to a direct-hire opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies and procedures.

• Support manufacturing accounting functions, including inventory accounting, cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.

• Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial operations.

• Lead annual audits and serve as a key liaison with external auditors.

• Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities.

• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.

• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

• Mentor and support accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.

• Analyze production costs, inventory valuation, and operational performance metrics to drive efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller-level responsibilities.

• Prior manufacturing accounting experience required.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.

• Experience managing audits, month-end close processes, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Experience with accounting ERP systems and financial management software.

• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Preferred Background

• Experience within manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or distribution environments.

• Strong understanding of inventory controls, standard costing, and manufacturing operations.

• Ability to step into a leadership role quickly and provide immediate value.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Proven ability to lead teams through periods of change while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits
